As part of Tournesol's Seeds of Change Program, we're happy to share this story of our involvement in an impactful donation to a wonderful community. Seeds of Change underscores our commitment to healthy community spaces, fair access to design resources, and the collaborative spirit that drives meaningful change.
High schooler Sabina Leveque reached out to us this past summer to see if we could help her donate a bench for her Eagle Scout project at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) in her area of Washington. Sabina shared, "The JCC has always been a special place to me. It's where I attended elementary school and afterschool care during my elementary school years, and many summers made lifelong memories through their camp programs. As a high school junior and a proud member of the Jewish community, I wanted to give back to the JCC that shaped much of my childhood.
For my Eagle Scout project, I envisioned creating a space where counselors and parents could comfortably watch children play. I installed a durable bench donated by Tournesol and added a mulch-bark area around it to enhance the area's safety and aesthetics. This small but impactful addition provides a much-needed seating area for caregivers and creates a welcoming environment for everyone in the community.
Tournesol's generous support made this project possible, and I'm so grateful for their contribution. The high-quality bench they provided is functional and adds a polished, professional touch to the area. Knowing that this space will serve others for years to come fills me with pride and gratitude.
This project represents a way to express my deep appreciation for the JCC and everything it has meant to me and my family. It also reminds me of the power of community partnerships, like the one with Tournesol, to make a positive impact. I'm happy to share that the bench installation was a great success. The project has been very well received by the JCC community, and I'm so grateful for your support."
Tournesol is thrilled to hear that this project was a success and that it's had a positive impact on the JCC community. It's incredibly gratifying to know that our Seeds of Change program could play a part in creating something so meaningful.
