Whether installing planters on-structure or at grade, thoughtful attention to drainage will keep water and debris from collecting on non-permeable surfaces. We manufacture our GFRC and Steel planters standard with drain holes. For no additional cost, we can produce these planters without holes. Our FRP planters are manufactured without drain holes so they can be drilled as required in the field. We can add drain holes to FRP planters using our standard drain hole configuration at no additional cost. See chart for details.

Scoops

Square and rectangular planters can be connected end-to-end to create linear runs. “Scoops” lower adjacent planter walls allowing them to hide beneath the soil surface, creating a continuous planting along the top. Connector kits to gang planters together are available.

Unique Scoops such as those placed to create t-shapes or corners are available but outside of standard options. Speak to a Tournesol Advisor about specifying unique scoops for your project.

Bottom Reinforcement

When specifying an FRP planter that won’t have full basal support after installation, such as installing on pedestals, it is recommended to add a bottom reinforcement to reduce damage to a loaded planter. This is also recommended for planters that will be anchored to the underlying surface.

Lift Channels

Moving large planters on the job site can be challenging without the right equipment. By adding lift channels, you can safely and quickly move planters on site. We have two configurations for lift channels, pallet jack or forklift.

TourneSeal

Need it watertight? Specify TourneSeal, our waterproofing solution. This is highly recommended for planters that will not have drain holes. We apply specific coatings to our FRP, and GFRC products, if requested. Follow our warranty requirements and perform a field test for watertightness after installation, before filling with media.

Custom Color

Tournesol offers a broad range of standard colors for GFRC, FRP, and Powder-Coat, but we also offer custom colors depending on product and volume. Contact a Tournesol Advisor to discuss your custom color needs.

Tournesol products are made to order for commercial application. Exact lead times are provided once your order is received.

At checkout, choose your delivery method:

Commercial Curbside Delivery with Liftgate: driver unloads and places your item(s) curbside. No forklift needed.

Commercial Curbside Delivery: a forklift must be available on site to receive the delivery.

Orders over $40,000 or with mixed product types are quoted separately after checkout.

We offer scheduled delivery to commercial and residential addresses. Deliveries do not include unpacking or removal of packing materials.

FRP Fiberglass

Our commercial-grade FRP planters are highly durable, last longer than plastic, and will endure in most winter climates. Although designed for commercial exterior applications, the colors may gradually change when exposed to sunlight.

Care & Maintenance

The interior of our FRP planters is sealed with Asphalt Emulsion Henry 107, which acts as a water-resistant sealer and damp-proofer. Planters in exterior applications may have drain holes in the bottom; if not, a pump-out (or siphon) tube must be used to remove water. Water standing at the bottom of the pot over a long period will harm the plant(s) and may break down the planter sealant. A touch-up kit is sent with FRP planters, contact Tournesol for Touch-Up Application and Repair instructions, as needed.

Our fiberglass planters are designed to hold up to the elements, yet they may still scratch, crack, or chip if care is not taken.

Clean Smooth (painted) finishes by gently scrubbing with soap and water applied with a soft brush or sponge; do not use abrasives on Smooth finishes.

Clean Orange Peel and Rough Stucco (textured) finishes with soap and water applied by a gentle spray from a pressure washer. Do not scrub textured finishes with stiff brushes, steel wool, or other abrasives.
Do not push or pull full-planted pots by the top lip.
