About the Team
The Engineering team is currently seeking a CAD Specialist to work at one of our manufacturing locations. The Engineering team consists of Project Engineers, Product Engineers, CAD Specialist and Design Engineers working together to estimate, coordinate, and process large and complex projects.
About the Role
The CAD Specialist functions as a CAD designer, drafter and documentation specialist, working as part of a multi-functional team in support of engineering group efforts and directives.
Core responsibilities will include the creation of new drawings and revision of existing drawings that will be controlled within the engineering document control system. This position will also provide documentation support for all other documents managed within the engineering document control system.
Incumbents in this position perform engineering-related assignments on a wide range of projects of a simple to complex nature by performing 3D and 2D CAD operations at the direction of Management or Engineering staff. Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Create 3D product models and 2D drawings or other documentation for manufacture of product.
- Revise and update existing databases and documentation to reflect design changes as directed.
- Create written and pictorial test and assembly procedures or other manufacturing support documentation.
- Review and check engineering drawings, for completeness and accuracy.
- Communicate in a clear, timely and professional manner with departmental and company personnel.
- Prepare Engineering change orders as necessary; obtain information and documents as required from inter-departments or outside agencies for projects.
- Implement use of new technologies, cost saving techniques/tools, and improved modelling practices where applicable.
- Continuously identify, recommend and/or undertake activities and methods to make positive contributions to the company goals and initiatives.
Important Skills and Abilities
- Associate degree or completion of a technical trade school in CAD, drafting or related field (certificate in 2D and 3D Computer Aided Design).
- 2 years or 1000 hrs. of demonstratable experience with Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault products as used for the design and detail of manufactured products. Experience in college may substitute for professional experience.
- Thorough understanding of engineering drawing and principles, as specified by ASME standards.
- Demonstrable consistent and outstanding accuracy and attention to detail.
- An understanding of the qualities of various materials (fiberglass, concrete, metal, wood) is desired along with an appreciation of manufacturing processes and some construction methods.
- Good analytical skills and able to visualize designs in 3D.
- Work effectively with others, be flexible in work assignments, and assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with the essential functions. Must be able to accept and work in a dynamic product development environment where the need to attend to multiple projects and adapt to changing demands in a timely manner is essential.
- Have strong problem-solving skills and a desire to come up with practical solutions.
- Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft Office.
- Use excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Work with minimal supervision, efficiently schedule and manage time, and meet deadlines.

The Production team is currently seeking an individual with metal working experience for our Fontana, CA manufacturing facility. The Metal Fabrication team works together with other departments to create, build, assemble and ship products for the commercial construction industry.
About the Role
The Manufacturing Associate will work under the direction of the Production Manager and directly with the manufacturing staff to create product to be shipped to our customers, as well as other tasks as assigned including warehouse upkeep and organizing. This position is located in our Fontana, CA manufacturing facility. You will have a direct hand in ensuring employee relations align with organizational objectives by performing the following duties;

- Fabricating and constructing metal components
- Grinding and finishing completed products
- Some minor welding
- Follow production schedule
- Inspecting quality/defects of product
- Organizing warehouse space

The Manufacturing Technology Group is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with experience in a metal and wood manufacturing environment for our Port Orchard, WA manufacturing facility. The Manufacturing Technology Group works together with other departments to plan, direct and coordinate activities relating to quality, tooling, and engineering to ensure efficient manufacturing operations across the organization.
About the Role
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will work directly with the Director of Manufacturing Technology, and with other operational departments, to identify and implement continuous improvement projects to maintain high levels of manufacturing product quality, reduce costs, and improve overall manufacturing efficiency. You will be based in our Ciudad Juarez, MX manufacturing facility. You’ll have a direct hand in accomplishing our #1 goal – a successful project in every way.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluating existing manufacturing processes and identifying areas for improvement.
- Determining problem resolutions and implementing improvements.
- Developing detailed layouts for equipment, processes, and workflows.
- Researching and developing new processes, equipment, and products.
- Developing and implementing cost-saving measures and quality control systems.
- Ensuring manufacturing processes, equipment, and products comply with safety standards and legal regulations.
- Maintaining research and activity documentation and preparing reports.
Necessary Skills
- Proven manufacturing engineer experience (metal manufacturing preferred)
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, LEAN SIX SIGMA green belt certification preferred
- Experience using CAD, CAM, data analysis programs, and related software. Solidworks and AutoCAD preferred.
- Strong analytical thinking
- Fluent in English and Spanish
- Experience evaluating and troubleshooting manufacturing processes and machinery.

About the Role
As a Project Engineer you will work independently or under the direction of the Lead Project Engineer, and in cooperation and collaboration with the Project Managers, you are responsible for providing outstanding and elegant design solutions for the unique and sometimes evolving requirements of the Sales Order, including project requirements such as due dates or design data requests. You will review criteria, identify and analyze opportunities and solutions, apply reasoning and analysis, find the right compromises based upon the identified objectives, and design the most optimal product. Additionally, you will create or oversee the creation of submittal drawings, production drawings, and any other design documents necessary for success execution of the project.
More than anything else, you will be responsible for ensuring that our product designs are robust, optimized around DfX principles, compliant to the project scope and all other applicable requirements, and fully and clearly documented for various internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Creates design solutions of manufacturable products that meet engineering standards, project objectives, and user requirements, ensuring on-time completion to the projects due-dates
- Performs design work including data research, feasibility, and costing studies.
- Consistently, and sometimes quickly, solve complex problems with simple cost-effective solutions
- Stay organized in a fast-paced, open team environment, while working on multiple projects in varying stages and at various levels of development.
- To continuously identify, recommend and/or undertake activities and methods to make positive contributions to the company goals and initiatives within the scope of the position.
- Stay current with Tournesol manufacturing capabilities and to provide support for manufacturing/production implementation.
- Travel to installation locations and/or other Tournesol locations may be required on rare occasions.
Necessary Skills
- Ability to self-manage and to work to due dates.
- Understanding of engineering principles and processes and how to effectively apply them to the creation of products, including but not limited to: DfX (Design for X: Manufacture/Assembly/Cost/Quality/Sustainability), FEA (finite element analysis), structural calculations, prototyping and assembly, physical testing.
- 3D parametric and master modeling, drawing/BOM creation.
- Experience with outdoor product design is a plus.
- Excellent 3D CAD skills: SolidWorks preferred, Inventor ok
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes: Sheet metal, tubular steel, welding, machining, metal casting and forming, extruding (plastic and metal), fiberglass composites, lightweight concrete, plastic thermoforming, plastic molding, and wood working.
- Strong communication skills. Written and verbal.
- Experience navigating and working in a manufacturing facility.

The Metal Finishing team is currently seeking an individual with Powder Coating Operating/Painting experience for our Port Orchard, WA manufacturing facility. The Metal Finishing team works together with other departments to create, build, assemble, and ship products for the commercial construction industry.
About the Role
As a Powder Coating Operator/Painter, you will work under the direction of the Production Manager and directly with the Production Finishing Team preparing surfaces and applying coatings to steel and other materials. The Operator/Painter will also be involved in prepping, masking, and plugging products prior to applying coatings. Employee will be based in our Fontana, CA manufacturing facility. You will have a direct hand in accomplishing our #1 goal – a successful project in every way.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepping surfaces and hanging parts on coating racks
- Powder Coating of various parts
- Inspect the quality of the material before, during and after the various processes to ensure quality standards are met
- Complete required paperwork for inventory purposes
- Maintaining/Cleaning equipment used in the coating process
- Report defective material and faulty equipment to Production Manager immediately
- Maintain a clean work environment and abide by all plant safety regulations and work rules
